Studio

Elaine Trei's studio is located in the beautiful resort community of Big Bear Lake and serves as both a working studio and a gallery. The photos below provide a look into Trei's creative process. Light filtered through surrounding pines flows into her log cabin-style building brimming with materials, books and completed works. Here is where Trei spends countless hours bringing her vision of nature, still life and the inner beauty of people to life—through paint.

Technique

Through many years of fine-tuning, Elaine Trei has mastered the use of color to give her paintings a special, uplifting feel. Whether painting in oils, gouache or watercolor, Trei concentrates on letting the paint "sing" on the surface. Her brush strokes, also, do more than just create shape and form. They sweep across the composition creating movement and energy.

Scroll through the photos below to see some of Trei's work in various stages. "Training and concentration do play a major role in my work," she says, "but the real magic happens when the I become one with the brush and I'm running on emotion."
